This is the rather obligatory and awkwardly clichéd – About Me Page 🙂
Hello there,
My name is Kate,
I was named after a character in my mother’s favorite book, The Good Master, Cousin Kate from Budapest.
I love books, filled with stories, knowledge and secrets. I have a fondness for writing myself. I also adore magazines, always have. Something about them reminds me of capturing the moments in life and then letting them go. So… I decided to create a blog. While a blog may have some fundamental differences from a magazine, I’ve always felt the essential spirit to be the same.
————— What will it be about? ————-
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote,
“To finish the moment, to find the journey’s end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours, is wisdom.”
Emerson, Ralph Waldo. Essays: Second Series. Boston: James Munroe and Company, 1844. (page 65)
Today the saying is known more proverbially as simply, “Life is a journey not a destination.”
When it comes to life don’t rush to the finish line, meander there.
There is so much to See and Learn and Experience. Not just all over the world but also at home.
I don’t know which I love more, waking up in a strange hotel that paradoxically doesn’t feel strange at all – it feels just right. Wondering first, what time it is, then wondering about everything new to come. My first day rising somewhere I’ve never been before. – Or, waking in my own bed snuggled in my fluffy down comforter, covered with an eyelet duvet. My cat nestled in a curve of my body, purring. The morning sun, a magic hue, dappled through the curtains.
Both are treasures because Life is filled with paths to explore; whether you’re traversing the Himalayas or a flower garden in your backyard.
“Find the journey’s end in every step of the road”
That’s what I would like this blog to be about, steps taken near and far. Discovering the vast and itty bitty wonders of the world.
I’d be delighted for you to join me as I wander and explore and enjoy life,
All Along the Way
